A roundtable dedicated to the prospects of palliative care in Azerbaijan was held in PHRC (PHOTO)
On December 19, 2016 the Public Health and Reform Center of the Ministry of Health (CGO) held a round table on "Prospects for the development of palliative care in Azerbaijan"
The event was aimed at attracting public attention to the results of the "Assessment of the Needs for Palliative Care in Azerbaijan" conducted by the specialists of the PHRC among the heads of medical and preventive institutions, doctors, nurses and the population in the capital and 7 economic regions of the country (Absheron, Ganja -Gazakh, Lankaran, Aran, Guba-Khachmaz, Sheki-Zagatala and Shirvan).
Welcoming the participants of the event Dr. Jeyhun Mammadov, Director of the Center, spoke about the purpose and objectives of the meeting, the importance of the numerous services related to the provision of palliative care.
Next on the event the chief oncologist of the Ministry of Health Dr Azad Kerimli, the head of Oncological Clinic at the Azerbaijan Medical University Dr Nasimi Gasimov, the associate professor of the Azerbaijan State Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education named after AzizAliev, Dr Metanet Garakhanova and the sociologist of the Health and Reforms Policy Department of the PHRC Ayshem Balaeva, presented prospects and their thoughts for the development of palliative care in Azerbaijan.
At the end of the event the speakers answered questions of interest to the round table participants.
