Event on “Promotion of a Healthy Lifestyle, Prevention of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS)” held at Baku Technical College

On December 7, 2018 was held an educational event through the joint cooperation among the Public Health and Reforms Center (PHRC) of the Ministry of Health, the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs and Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan at Baku Technical College under Azerbaijan Technical University.

The event organized in order to promote healthy lifestyles among youth was opened by deputy director on an educational sphere of the college Ilham Zeynalov. He praised the special care for youth in our country, urged students to avoid bad habits.

Referring to the state policy on family, women and children affairs, deputy head of family problems department of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Kamila Aliyeva spoke about issues of concern to families and steps have been taken to address these problems.

Methodist Physician of PHRC Latafat Dadashova gave a detailed presentation on “Promotion of a Healthy Lifestyle, Prevention of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS)” and explained the main ways to prevent the spread of the disease among young peoples.

She discussed bad habits (alcohol,tobacco and drug use) and their negative impact on human's health and warned about serious consequences might be arisen in the future.

L. Dadashova also recommended students to lead healthy lives and urged them to take responsibility for their own health.

At the end of the event, educational materials on prevention of AIDS prepared by PHRC were distributed and questions of interest to the pupils were clarified.
