PHRC representatives attend conference in Moscow

The WHO European Office for the Prevention and Control of Noncommunicable Diseases (NCD Office) hosted two day international conference on “The Best Start in Life – Breastfeeding for the Prevention of Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs) and the Achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals” in Moscow on November 7-8, 2018.

The main goal of the conference was to share international, national and regional experiences on prevention of NCDs, promotion of breastfeeding, providing more efficient medical services.

The conference was attended by government officials, WHO experts, health and education professionals, researchers, representatives of nongovernmental organizations advocating for breastfeeding, including the head of the Health policy and reforms department of the Public Health and Reforms Center of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan (PHRC) Shahla Mirzazade, deputy head of Monitoring and analysis department of PHRC Inara Makayeva.

The conference focused on topics such as benefits and importance of breastfeeding, the best propagation methods of breastfeeding.

At the same time, each country representative presented posters reflecting statistics and condition on breastfeeding.

The panellists also shared their views on the theme of the conference.
