Medical staff was trained in preparation to setting a medical advisory room for smoking cessation
Since November 1, 2016 a pilot project has started - the organization of a medical advisory room to quit smoking at the outpatient department of the Public Health and Reforms Center. In this regard, a training was conducted in the Public Health and Reforms Center. The training was attended by district doctors of city polyclinics, therapists, cardiologists, as well as doctors from the outpatient department of the Public Health and Reforms Center. Representatives of the PHRC - methodologists Shahla Mirzazade and Irada Abbasova - informed the participants of the training on health risks associated with smoking, diseases that occur under the influence of active and passive smoking, the syndrome of nicotine addiction, and also the motivational methods for quitting smoking.
During the training, a telebridge was organized with Dr Olga Sukhovskaya, the head of the Consultative Telephone Support Center for Quitting Tobacco Use in St. Petersburg (Russia), Research Institute of Phthisio-Pneumology.
Dr O.Suhovskaya told about the role of medical consultation on the phone in quitting smoking, provided information on the "hotline" established in Russia to reduce the number of smokers and the impact of tobacco on human health, and also spoke about the importance of effective motivational methods for refusal to smoke. The head of the center also wished successes in the work of the medical office on quitting smoking at the PHRC.
