A seminar on "Development of palliative care in Azerbaijan" was held in PHRC

On August 22, 2016 the Public Health and Reforms Center (PHRC) of the Ministry of Health held a seminar dedicated to  "Prospects for the development of palliative care in Azerbaijan". 

The main goal of the seminar was to inform event participants about the current status and  human/technical resources  for providing services in the field of palliative care  in Azerbaijan, discuss the ways to establish these services and potential opportunities.   

Also, the participants  were informed  about the study planned for September   to assess  needs for palliative care, which will be  organized by PHRC.  

This event was held in accordance with Articles 9.1.3 and  9.3.1  of the Action Plan of the Ministry of Health for the implementation of the "Strategy to control non-communicable diseases in Azerbaijan for 2015-2020" and to Article  3.3.11  of the Plan for the implementation of actions with Strategic Plan of the Ministry of  Health Of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2014-2020. 

The event was attended by PHRC staff members, and also by experts and stakeholders in the field of palliative care, doctors, and nurses.

Deputy  Head of the  Health Policy and Reforms Department of PHRC Nabil  Seyidov made a  presentation on  "Palliative care: the right for a worthy end of life."
