Global Youth Tobacco Survey (GYTS)
Currently the second Global Youth Tobacco Survey (GYTS) supported by the World Health Organization and the Center for Diseases Control and Prevention (USA) is being carried out in Azerbaijan. The first GYTS was conducted in Azerbaijan in 2012.
The project initiated in 2015 will continue throughout the year of 2016. The survey is based on the unified methodology developed by CDC. The survey coordinated with the Ministry of Education is being implemented by the Public Health and Reforms Center (PHRC) team of the Ministry of Health. The survey is conducted among 13-15 year-old students from 25 public schools. The first interviews started on April 12, 2016 in Baku and Sumgait, and beginning from May 2 a field work will take start in the regions as well. Upon completion of the survey, it is expected that the PHRC will issue an Information Bulletin comprising preliminary data collected during the survey. Also, a Final Report will be available for general public.
