A round table was held on the topic of "Make every day no tobacco day!" in Siyazan.
On May 25, 2022, with the joint organization of the Public Health and Reforms Center of the Ministry of Health and the Executive Power of the Siyazan District, and participation of the Siyazan district community a round table on the topic of "Make every day no tobacco daywas held in the Heydar Aliyev Center.
The event was opened by the representative of the Siyazan District Executive Power, responsible secretary of the commission for minors' affairs and the protection of their rights, Gunel Aghayeva, who spoke about activities in the direction of protecting of population health in our country, and emphasized that the healthy development of the new generation is always at the centre of focus. Laura Guliyeva, Head of Health Communication Department of PHRC, showed presentation and stated that a series of educational events were held in the capital and regions in order to promote a healthy lifestyle: "Tobacco smoking is one of the main preventable causes of premature death of the population around the world. Let's remember that most people don't smoke. Most smokers want to quit this habit. Joint cooperation and public support play an important role in encouraging them, as well as in order to make the fight against harmful habits more effective and efficient." Tofig Musayev, head of the Public Health Department of PHRC, pointed out that approximately 8 million people die every year as a result of the harmful effects of tobacco smoke: "The adoption of the Law on restriction of tobacco use in our country is a very important step toward protecting population health. The right to breathe clean air without substances is much higher than of the smokers right to smoke tobacco in public places and thereby endanger the health of other people.
The round table participants discussed and emphasized the importance of educational measures, talked about the harms of smoking to health, shared their personal experiences and urged the new generation to stay away from harmful habits.
There was an effective exchange of ideas and proposals on this topic.
