PHRC hosts two-day training on “Diabetes schools. Role of nurses in treatment management of diabetes”
Two-day training on “Diabetes schools. Role of nurses in treatment management of diabetes” was held at the Public Health and Reforms Center of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan (PHRC) on May 13-14, 2019.
In his introductory speech, director of PHRC Gahraman Hagverdiyev reported on works done in the field of the prevention and treatment of diabetes and noted that, people suffering from this disease are surrounded with state care in our country.
Endocrinologist of the Republican Endocrinology Center, Yegana Sultanova, thanked PHRC management for this training, which was organized to improve the knowledge and skills of nurses on diabetes in order to raise the quality of health care provided to the population. “As in many other countries of the world, there is not a few people suffering from diabetes in Azerbaijan. New data from Republican Endocrinology Center reveals 255,470 people in Azerbaijan have diabetes in 2019 (January). 73,542 of them are residents of Baku,” she added.
Doctor of the Republican Endocrinology Center, Sarriya Aghayeva talked about the importance of informing the patients on non-communicable diseases and gave detailed information on chronic complications of diabetes mellitus, proper nutrition, treatment with hypoglycemia, hyperglycemia and etc.
The next part of the training was devoted to hands-on sessions on diabetes schools and active participants were awarded with certificates.
