Students of Azerbaijan Maritime College informed on healthy lifestyles
Public Health and Reforms Center (PHRC) of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan regularly conducts activities to promote awareness on healthy lifestyles among adolescents and youth.
One such event organized by PHRC jointly with the State Committee for Family, Women, and Children Affairs was held in Azerbaijan Maritime College of Azerbaijan State Marine Academy on October 30.
Chairman of the Youth organization of Azerbaijani Maritime College Elmar Asgarov praised the special care for youth in our country and emphasized importance of raising health awareness among young peoples.
Deputy head of family problems department of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Kamila Aliyeva emphasized the importance of awareness-raising events conducted nationwide with PHRC on gender equality, drug addiction, domestic violence, early marriages, non-communicable diseases and etc.
Methodist-physician of PHRC Latafat Dadashova told about negative and ongoing effects of tobacco products and drugs on human health and also informed audience on measures taken for protection of the health of population, especially adolescents in our country. Speaking about tobacco use statistics in Azerbaijan, the speaker noted that, smoking is a major cause of cardiovascular diseases (heart, stroke and blood vessel disease), oncological diseases and other serious illnesses.
At the end of the event, educational materials prepared by PHRC were distributed and questions of interest to the pupils were clarified.
