Respresentative of PHRC participates in the International Exhibition and Scientific Conference “Health – 2018” in Ashgabad

On July 22, 2018, was held “Health-2018” International Exhibition and Conference in Ashgabad, Turkmenistan. Before the conference there was organized a two-day (20-21 July) meeting on the Regional Nutrition Partnership Platform for Central Asia and Caucasus. Head of the Projects' Coordination Department of PHRC Sabina Babazade was sent on a business trip to participate in the conference and meetings.

Among those attending the meeting were representatives from different ministries and agencies of Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Iran, Serbia and other countries, as well as officials of  international organizations – UNESCO, WHO, the World Food Program (WFP) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

There were discussed achievements of Ashgabad declaration on prevention and fight against non-communicable diseases (NCDs), key results of the COSI, FEEDcities and STEPS researches. As well as, participants acquainted with “2018-2020 Plan of Action” on developing Nutrition Partnership Platform for Central Asia and Caucasus. The Regional Platform aimed to develop potential and strengthen partnership in this field.

Exchange of views on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGS) adopted by the UN to guide global development until the year 2030 was conducted within the frame of the meetings. It was especially noted that, increasing of the knowledge and skills of medical specialists plays an important role in the development and strengthening of the potential in this field.
