The PHRC staff member participated in a study on the impact of the environment on health, held in Greece
The main topic of discussions at the 3rd Plenary Conference on February 6-7 and the First Training Course on February 8-10, 2017 in the city of Soloniki (Greece) were issues related to the environment and environmental health. Nabil Seyidov, deputy head of the Health Policy and Reform Department of the Public Health and Reforms Center (PHRC) of the Ministry of Health, represented Azerbaijan in the events.
Both events were organized by the Greek University of Aristotle in Solonica with the support of the European Union, the European Commission's Horizon-2020 Program, the Regional Office of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Institute of Public Health in Italy. The main topics discussed by the public health and environmental specialists who attended the conference and training course from more than 40 European countries were focused on issues of public health protection, risk assessment of environmental factors and their impact on health, prevalence of toxic and harmful substances in environment, reducing the elimination of the effects of these substances on health, conducting biometric monitoring, etc.
During the events, detailed information was provided to the participants on innovative strategies for assessing the environmental impact on public health, widely used in European countries, including Geographic Information Systems and the Integra program.
