Trainings on "Public Health Management in Emergency Situations" (PHOTO) started in the Public Health and Reforms Center
The Disaster Preparedness Program of the European Bureau of the World Health Organization (WHO) helps countries in need to prevent accidents, reduce or alleviate their consequences, and in the management of recovery after the emergency situation. One of the 13 priority areas identified by WHO is the health system's preparedness of Member States for emergencies.
Taking this into account, on December 13, 2016, the Public Health and Reform Center (PHRC) of the Ministry of Health, with the participation of the international WHO expert in Azerbaijan, started trainings on "Public Health Management in Emergencies". On the first day of the 3-day training, Dr Lutfi Gafarov, the head of the department of the Primary Healthcare of the Public Health and Reforms Center, welcomed participants and shared detailed information on the training. He noted that this training will provide an opportunity to increase the experience and knowledge of the managers of medical institutions in preparing for emergencies in Azerbaijan, eliminating and alleviating consequences of those emergencies, as well as in managing public health during the recovery from disasters.
Then, the presentations were made by Dr Sabina Babazade, Head of the Projects' Coordination Department of the PHRC, Samir Mehtiyev, a staff member of the Monitoring and Analysis Department of the PHRC, Dr Teymur Huseynov from the Medical Quality Standards Department of the PHRC, Dr. Ute S. Enderlein, technical expert of the WHO Regional Office for Europe, and others.
