The World AIDS Day was celebrated in the Shamkir House of Knowledge

On December 1, an  educational meeting dedicated to the World AIDS Day was held at the secondary school named after Nizami Ganjavi of the Shamkir region. Representatives of the regional Ganja branch of the Ombudsman Office for Human Rights of the Republic of Azerbaijan, employees of the  Youth and Sports Department of the Shamkir district, representatives of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan, representatives of the regional department of the Ministry of Health and the Knowledge Foundation under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan,   healthcare providers and students. Participants of the event were given information about AIDS, about the current status of AIDS in Azerbaijan, about the potential threat of spreading the disease among young people, about protection from the virus and about ways to solve this problem.

In order to raise awareness among the population about methods to combat AIDS, the PHRC regularly conducts health promotion activities and social campaigns, as well as prepares educational materials and distributes them among young people.
