A seminar was held in Moscow on "Challenges in providing assistance to quit smoking"
October 17-21, 2016 in Moscow (Russian Federation) a seminar on "Challenges in providing assistance to quit smoking" was held. The event was organized within the framework of the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Office for Europe project on "Prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases" with the support of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation and the Moscow State Medical University named after I.M. Sechenov. At the seminar, with the participation of representatives from WHO and the CIS countries, Azerbaijan was represented by the employees of the Public Health and Reform Center of the Ministry of Health, Deputy Director Dr Rahib Mammadov and Dead of the Public Health Department Dr Tofik Musaev.
The goal of the workshop was to increase the knowledge and skills of those responsible for strengthening the national system and policies towards cessation of tobacco use among population and providing support for treatment. The seminar discussed the experience of the WHO Regional Office for Europe and the Russian Federation in the field of providing assistance in quitting smoking.
Experts from Azerbaijan informed the participants of the seminar about achievements in this field in Azerbaijan. Dr Tofik Musayev also made a presentation on "Azerbaijan's achievements in cessation of tobacco use and support to quit smoking".
