In the Public Health and Reforms Center for health professionals a training on psycho-social and medical assistance to the victims of gender-based violence is being carried out (PHOTO)
Supported the MOH and by UNFPA “Medical assistance to the victims of gender violence training for health professionals” has started in the Public Health and Reforms Center on June 6, 2016.
The training is being carried out according to the paragraphs: 1.2.4 (point 2) and 1.2.8 (point 1) of the “Action Plan for the Prevention of Domestic Violence" approved by the Order No. 13 of the Ministry of Health dated from 15.02.2012. The training modules are also based on the “Gender-based violence, emergency medical and psychological assistance to the victims- a Manual for health workers”- developed by the Country Office of UNFPA and by the PHRC experts in 2015.
Facilitated by international experts from Turkey: Ayşe Akin Director of Women - Child Health and Family Planning Research and Application Center (BÜKÇA) -University of Bashkent and her colleague Ezgi Turkçelik the training will finish on June 10, 2016
Carried out with the assistance of international experts the 5 day event intends to increase skills and knowledge of local health specialists. The training topics include: Systematized and appropriate emergency medical and psychological assistance to the gender-based violence victims; how emotionally and psychologically support the victims, taking into account their physical and emotional conditions; and provision of comprehensive medical examination of the victims; how to ensure legislative norms and legal regulations to safeguard human dignity in the situations associated with GBV. For the participants of training a Member of the Bar Association Sevinj Aliyeva will make a presentation “Law on gender (male and female) Equality" focusing on the basis of legal assistance to the victims of gender-based violence and current procedures in delivering the assistance.
