A drawing competition "Create No Tobacco World!" among schoolchildren and a briefing for media representatives dedicated to May 31 - World No Tobacco Day was organized by the PHRC team (PHOTO)

On 31 May 2016 in the courtyards of the Baku City №189-190 secondary school a “Create No Tobacco World!" drawing competition was held among students of the schools. The event was dedicated to the World No Tobacco Day and attended by media representatives for whom a relevant briefing was organized by the PHRC team.

Organized  by the MOH Public Health and Reforms Center (PHRC) and supported by the Ministry of Health, Sabail District Executive Power and by the Country Office the World Health Organization (WHO) the event was dedicated to May 31 - World No Tobacco Day.

Carried out in accordance with the "Strategy on control of non-communicable diseases for 2015-2020 in the Republic of Azerbaijan" the event was mainly aiming to promote healthy lifestyle habits among the population, to prevent risks associated with tobacco use and to inform the general public about potential harms of tobacco smoking.

Implemented in line with the  World Health Organization’s Framework Convention on Tobacco Control  (the Article 12, “Education, communication, training and public awareness”), the event aimed to draw public attention to the problems created by tobacco smoking and to promote healthy lifestyle among general public.
