PHRC representatives have attended an “Intensive legal training and capacity-building workshop on law and non-communicable diseases” in Moscow Russian Federation
An “Intensive legal training and capacity-building workshop on law and non-communicable diseases” organized by the WHO Regional Office, McCabe Centre for Law and Cancer and Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University took place in Moscow, Russian Federation May 30 – June 3, 2016.
Organized in the framework of Education of Health Policy Makers in Prevention and Control Project the training was attended by representatives of Member States and was targeting policy-makers and government employees working in public health as well as in the area of trade and/or the economy.
Representatives of the MOH Public Health and Reforms Center - the Head of the Population's Health Department Dr. Tofig Musayev, the Deputy Head of the Health Policy and Reforms Department Dr. Nabil Seyidov and Samir Mehdiyev from the Monitoring and Analysis Department took part in the event.
During the workshop the leading modifiable risk factors, burden of NCDs and response strategies have been discussed; practical sessions on different aspects of NCD prevention carried out and presentation of European experts delivered. The WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC) and its global role and effective policy and legal approaches to address tobacco, alcohol and unhealthy diets/obesity emphasized and report from member states have been presented.
