PHRC representatives participated in the international seminar on the issues related to the capacity building of the media in the fight against tobacco

Seminar about the capacity bulding of the media in the fight against tobacco was organized by the Regional Office for Europe of the World Health Organization (WHO) on March 3-4, 2016 in Moscow, Russian Federation. The main purpose of the seminar was to provide the information on the latest scientific achievements and innovations in the field of tobacco control, review the successful implementation of the activities and strategies in this field in different countries. During this seminar intended for  the representatives of mass media of the CIS countries, Azerbaijan was represented by the Dr. Tofig Musayev, Ms.Ayten Mammadova and Ms. Ayla Alasgarova from the Public Health and Reforms Centre (PHRC) of the Ministry of Health.. 

Head of the Population Health Department of the PHRC Dr.Tofig Musayev provided the seminar participants with insight into the  work carried out in Azerbaijan for prevention of non-communicable diseases caused by smoking. He specifically mentioned that  "In order to educate the population, PHRC developed  the website - www.nosmoke.az, dedicated to the campaign "Make every day no tobacco day!" and launched the e-portal - www.tobaccocontrol.az with lots of  useful information on tobacco control both for the population, and  specialists". 

During this seminar number of participants joined the PHRC campaign "Make every day no tobacco day!"
