Training course on mandatory medical examination of children and early detection and prevention of childhood diseases held in Baku

The State Program 2013-2017 for mandatory medical examination of children targets at reducing morbidity and mortality rate among children and solving problems with healthcare access.  The State Program aims to develop healthcare infrastructure, supply public health facilities conducting (mandatory) medical examination of children with diagnostics equipment and reagents for laboratory tests, as well as to improve health care personnel performance and raise public awareness.

Following the paragraph 4.1 of the Action Plan of the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan Republic on the implementation of the State Program on mandatory medical examination of children, pilot trainings on early detection and treatment of diseases in compliance with the quality standards and clinical protocols have been delivered to primary healthcare workers in the city of Sumgait.

As part of the Public Health and Reforms Center’s (PHRC) pilot project, regular training courses were delivered to 26 pediatricians from 11 children’s health clinics and Children’s United Hospital in Baku on January 14-16, 2015 at PHRC.

A group of experts from PHRC, Azerbaijan State Advanced Training Institute for Doctors named after A. Aliyev (ASATID) and K. Farajeva Research Institute of Pediatrics delivered trainings on management of mandatory medical examination of children, as well as on prevention, early detection and diagnosis of respiratory diseases, acute respiratory illness and cancer, mental disorders, kidney diseases, tuberculosis, heart diseases, obesity and overweight.

As part of the project the next trainings are expected to be held in the cities of Ganja and Mingachevir.
