Study on evaluation of the effectiveness of vaccination against COVID-19 and influenza in Azerbaijan wraps up
The study on the evaluation of the effectiveness of vaccination against COVID-19 and influenza among health workers in our country wrapped up. This large-scale cohort study was carried out by the Public Health and Reforms Center (PHRC) with support of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the World Health Organization (WHO).
The project was proposed by the European Bureau of the World Health Organization as part of the global study since April, 2021 and involved 1,500 healthcare workers from seven medical institutions - the united hospitals № 7, 15, 18, 23, 24, 26 and 29 of Baku. Within the frame of the study specialists regularly ask about their health condition, whether they have any symptoms of coronavirus infection, all respondents were tested a blood sample for the presence of antibodies twice a year.
Within the 3 years of the research, 6,000 blood samples were taken, more than 200,000 interviews were conducted with respondents, 100 online meetings and more than 30 monitoring visits were held, and 700,000 information results were entered into the database.
Note that, the first year of the research was supported by the WHO, and the second year by the Task Force for Global Health (US, non-profit organization).
