Campaign on "Let's say no to harmful habits!" held in Shabran

Public Health and Reforms Center (PHRC) of the Ministry of Health in cooperation with Khachmaz Regional Culture Department held a campaign for the population in Shabran. The purpose of the campaign which was organized with participation of local residents, public representatives and the youth was to raise awareness on dangerous consequences of harmful habits such as smoking and drug addiction.

On the eve of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, or World Drug Day, which is marked on 26 June every year, a healthy lifestyle was widely promoted and encouraged, and paintings on consequences of smoking and drug addiction were exhibited.

Health workers and public health experts gave detailed information about consequences of tobacco products and drugs. Participants were also encouraged to use ‘Quit Tobacco App’ launched by PHRC with support of the country office of the World Health Organization.

The action included the use of the selfie generator application named "I don't smoke, and you can do it!", with the help of which photographs were taken, and educational materials on "Choose a healthy, drug-free life!", "Main risk factors of non-communicable diseases", "Dangerous effects of smoking" and etc. prepared and published by the PHRC were distributed at the action place.
