Director of PHRC Gahraman Hagverdiyev participated in the meeting on risk communication in Georgia

On October 10-12, 2022, a meeting on "Public relations and risk communication during health emergencies" was held in Tbilisi, Georgia.

The meeting was held at the initiative of the European Union in six countries of Eastern region partners (Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, Armenia, Ukraine, etc.) within the framework of the "Solidarity for the sake of health: solving the problems of the COVID-19 pandemic. Eastern Partnership” project. The main purpose of the meeting between the member states of the World Health Organization (WHO) was to discuss both short and long-term priority measures in the field of risk communication and public relations in the countries, and to increase the knowledge and skills of the participants in the more efficient establishment of relations with the public during emergency situations.

Representatives of the Ministry of Health, the State Agency for Compulsory Medical Insurance, the Management Union of Medical Territorial Units (TABIB), Non-Governmental Organizations and WHO were represented in the Azerbaijani delegation.

Gahraman Hagverdiyev, director of the Public Health and Reforms Center of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan have participated in the meeting and gave detailed information about the work done in our country during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the measures implemented in the direction of health care. He made a presentation about the research conducted in our country on the understanding of behavior related to COVID-19 in Azerbaijan: monitoring of knowledge, risk perceptions, preventive behaviors and trust for adequate response measures against the pandemic. He said that in this study, conducted by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan and PHRC with the support of WHO, the data is collected and analyzed in seven stages by using a questionnaire and phone interviews by computer. G. Hagverdiyev noted that these results not only contribute to the implementation of response measures against the pandemic, but also confirm the importance of educating the population about health protection.

At the meeting, there was an effective exchange of ideas about the country's experiences and new recommendations.
