Conference was held on the topic of "Organization of work on integrating men into antenatal and child-care services"

On June 30, 2022, a conference on the topic of "Organization of work on integrating men into antenatal and child-care services" was held at the Public Health and Reforms Center (PHRC) of the Ministry of Health. At the conference, it was emphasized that the project "Organization of work with men during pregnancy and childbirth" carried out within the framework of the "European Union for Gender Equality: against gender stereotypes and gender-based violence" program, jointly implemented by the United Nations Population Fund and UN Women Agency, with support of the European Union, has completed its activities. The project was implemented by the Public association of social initiatives “Reliable Future” in close cooperation with the PHRC, the Azerbaijan Medical University (AMU) and the Azerbaijan State Advanced Training Institute for Doctors named after A. Aliyev (ASATID). The main goal of the project was to encourage, along with mothers, also fathers from family doctors, obstetricians-gynecologists, obstetricians, neonatologists and pediatricians involved in maternal and child health, in order to involve fathers in the process of pregnancy, childbirth and childcare, and to involve them in extensive health education.

Director of the PHRC Gahraman Hagverdiyev, the head of the UNFPA office in Azerbaijan Farid Babayev, the deputy Sadagat Valiyeva, associate professor of the Azerbaijan State Advanced Training Institute for Doctors named after A. Aliyev, candidate of medical sciences Nigar Hajiyeva and representatives of other structures made statements at the conference. With the participation of representatives from the Ministry of Health, the Office of the Commissioner for human rights (Ombudsman), AMU, ASATID, TABİB, the Baku Main Department of Health, the Republican Perinatal Center and other institutions, a productive exchange of views took place and plans for the future were discussed.
