Children's Day at the Public Health and Reform Centre
November 20 this year marks the 60th anniversary of the adoption of the United Nations’ Declaration on the Rights of the Child and the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. The date of adoption of these important documents aimed at increasing attention and care for children - November 20 has been declared by the UN General Assembly as World Children’s Day. On November 19, 2019, Children’s Day was held at the Public Health and Reforms Centre (PHRC) of the Ministry of Health on the occasion of this date, which is celebrated annually with various events around the world, including in our country. The main purpose of the event was to familiarize the children of PHRC employees with the activities of the Centre and the medical education of the population in our country, promotion of healthy lifestyle and introduce the work done in the field of traffic safety.
Welcoming the children, Director of PHRC Gahraman Hagverdiyev said that children in our country are under special care, healthy development, education and moral upbringing of the new generation are always the focus of attention: "Successful development observed in Azerbaijan in recent years covers every area of our lives. This development has not neglected such an important area as the protection of public health - healthcare.Increased attention and care in the healthcare are making healthcare system of Azerbaijan an area that keeps up with period and progresses.” Noting that reforms have been made in many fields of healthcare, new medical institutions have been built and equipped with modern equipment, G.Haqverdiyev brought it to the attention of the children that it is the duty of doctors not only to treat diseases, but also to actively participate in disease prevention: We constantly organize and promote events in the fields of protection of the rights and health of children, prevention of violence against them. Today you will be closely acquainted with the activities of medical workers, public health specialists, and you will get new information about health protection. It would be great if you could share this useful information with your peers and contribute to public health.
On Children's Day held with the active participation of children which are the most vulnerable and fragile section of our society, they were provided with extensive information about PHRC departments and key areas of activity, simulation section, the importance of vaccines in the prevention of various infectious diseases, the importance of avoiding bad habits and especially smoking, the benefits of healthy eating and other issues.
At the end, suggestions of the children were heard, their questions were answered, certificates and gifts were presented to the small friends of the public health.
