PHCR representatives attended the “Reproductive Health Protection” Forum in Kiev, Ukraine
The Fifth Interdepartmental Working Group forum on the Protection of Sexual and Reproductive Health in Crisis Situations for Eastern Europe and Central Asia countries was held in Kiev, Ukraine on October 2016, 18-20. The forum was held with the support of European Office of International Family Planning Federation and the UNFPA (UN Population Fund) Regional Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia. The main objective of the event was to measure the progress made in the field of protection of rights of the victims of sexual and reproductive health in emergency situations in Eastern Europe and Central Asia countries in 2016. The Head of the Project Coordination Department Sabina Babazade and the doctor-methodologist of the Medical Quality Standards Department of the Public Health of the Public Reforms Center (PHRC) of the Ministry of Health Teymun Huseynov informed the participants about the current issues related to protection of victims and their sexual and reproductive health in emergency situations, implemented activities and achievements in the country. During the discussions participants of the two-day event reviewed the current protection of sexual and reproductive health issues in crisis situations and preparedness of the involved countries on that as well as the best practices maintained in the countries. At the end of the forum, the organizers and participants agreed upon the need to increase protection capacity of countries in the field of sexual and reproductive health in crisis situations and decided to make necessary improvements on that at the regional and national level. Also, it was agreed to develop a working plan for 2017.
