The clinic and the Hotline on quit smoking will be available at the polyclinic of the Public Health and Reforms Center
Starting from November 1, 2016, the medical department of the Public Health and Reforms Center (PHRC) of the Ministry of Health will begin to operate a consulting and arrange a special hotline for those who want to quit smoking. At the first stage, the office will function as a pilot project, within which the population will be provided with professional step-by-step medical and psychological assistance to stop tobacco dependence.
The project is implemented in order to fulfill the relevant requirements of the "Strategy to Control Non-Communicable Diseases in Azerbaijan for 2015-2020", approved by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in December 2015. During the pilot phase (2 months), it is planned to implement the work of the Hotline and the cabinet on smoking cessation. For specialists in this office, a 3-day training course is conducted in the PHRC on the basis of guidelines that will strengthen the capacity of national experts in the treatment of tobacco dependence and the organization of medical advisory services.
