Discussions on cancer prevention and control strategies were held at the Public Health and Reforms Center together with the WHO experts
Meetings to discuss cancer prevention and control issues with the WHO European Regional office experts on Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) were arranged at the Public Health and Reforms Center on May 31- June 1, 2016.
The discussions covered such issues as cancer prophylaxis strategies, application of effective screening programs, experiences currently implemented in developed countries and WHO recommendations on early cancer detection etc.
These meetings were followed-up at the National Oncology Center and at the WHO Country Office on June 2, 2016.
During the meetings the importance of organization of palliative care in the country emphasized, and at the first stage organization of palliative care pilot model suggested. The discussions included also issues of the development of palliative care legislative acts. In addition to abovementioned: HPV vaccination, NCD prevention among youth and children, access to cancer treatment drugs and some other issues of concern have been also mutually shared.
