PHRC conducted a comparative analysis of WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control vs. tobacco control legislation in Azerbaijan
Starting in December 2014, the Public Health and Reforms Center of the Ministry of Health (PHRC) conducted a comparative analysis to evaluate the relevance of the Azerbaijan Republic legislation on tobacco control to requirements of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control. As part of this project leaded by Dr. Tofig Musayev, Head of the Population Health Department, a comparative analysis of Azerbaijani law on tobacco control to the provisions of the Framework Convention was carried out by Dr. Parvana Bayramova, JD.
The publicly available research provides essential information and evidences in implementing effective tobacco control policies. The research also offers guidelines developed on the basis of comparative study. The research findings are designed to be used by decision-makers, parliamentarians, politicians, public health experts, NGOs and advocates, organizations and individuals involved in developing tobacco control legislation in Azerbaijan.
