An educational event and action on the topic of “Say no to harmful habits!” were held at the Academy of the Ministry of Emergency Situations
On June 14, 2022, an educational event against harmful habits was held at the Academy of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan by the Public Health and Reforms Center (PHRC) of the Ministry of Health.
The purpose of the event, which was organized with the participation of officers and cadets, was to educate the young generation of a healthy lifestyle, to inform them in detail about the dangerous consequences of harmful habits such as smoking and drug addiction, which are the main risk factors of non-communicable diseases.
The event was opened by Huseyn Abdinov, the head of the Department of for Work with Personal of the Academy of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and emphasized that the healthy lifestile, education, and moral upbringing of the young generation are always in the center of attention in our country. H. Abdinov noted that a person is the creator of his own health and must constantly fight for this health: "One of the main steps today should be the expansion of educational activities among teenagers and young people."
Laura Guliyeva, Head of Health Communication Department of PHRC, gave a presentation and pointed out that the laws adopted in the fight against harmful habits and the purposeful measures implemented in this field are of great importance. Tofig Musayev, Head of the Public Health Department of PHRC, gave detailed information to the participants about the bitter consequences of smoking and drug addiction: "June 26 is the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The purpose of celebrating this day is to make people aware that the best way to avoid drugs is to never use them. Taking drugs destroys a person physically and psychologically. Drug addiction disrupts memory and thinking, creates indifference to life. Drug addiction causes weakening and poisoning of the body, loss of physical strength."
After the event, "Let's say no to bad habits!" an educational campaign was organized. The participants of the action were once again informed about the advantages of a healthy lifestyle and the dangerous effects of harmful habits on health.
Using a selfie generator photos with "I don't smoke, and you can do it!" slogan were taken, a painting by Yulet Askerov, a cadet of the Academy, was shown, educational materials prepared and published by PHRC were distributed to the participants.
