Series of events held within the framework of the European Public Health Week in Tovuz
To celebrate healthy populations and raise awareness of public health, European Public Health Association (EUPHA) launched the first European Public Health Week (EUPHW) between 13 and 17 May 2019. It is considered to be held events and activities dedicated to important public health themes all over the Europe. EUPHA will encourage state-owned enterprises, organizations, professionals interested in public health to join or organize activities related to these themes.
Within the frame of “13-17 May European Public Health Week”, Public Health and Reform Center of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan in collaboration with the “Baku İdeaLab” LLC and Tovuz Youth House have launched “Sağlamlıq carçıları” project.
Head of the Health care policy and planning department of PHRC Shahla Mirzazade and employee of the Health Communication Department of PHRC Fatima Gahramanova were delegated to Gadabay and Tovuz regions in order to organize the project.
Within the frame of the project, there were organized trainings on promoting healthy lifestyle. Participants were informed on hazards of harmful habits, sexually transmitted infections, reproductive health and hygiene rules. More than 100 children were given gifts that promote healthy lifestyle.
Also, project organizers implemented an action titled "Create a Tobacco Free World" devoted to the “May 31 - World No Tobacco Day” with participation of training participants and volunteers in Tovuz’s Govlar city. Local population of the city were informed on harmful effects of tobacco use on human health and environment.
Within the frame of the project there was held meeting with children with Down syndrome and different presents and awareness materials prepared by PHRC were distributed to them.
