Seminar on “Measuring progress on child health” held in PHRC
On November 20-22, 2018, a seminar-monitoring on “Measuring progress on child health” was held at the Public Health and Reforms Center (PHRC) of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The seminar brought together specialists, doctors from the Ministry of Health, Scientific-Research Pediatrics Institute, Republican Perinatal Center, Scientific Research Institute of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Baku city Main Health Department, Informatics and Statistics Department and PHRC.
Director of PHRC, Gahraman Hagverdiev made an opening statement and noted that, for the purpose of increasing of quality of a treatment-preventive services provided to women and children there was adopted the “State Program on improvement of maternal and child health for 2014-2020". He underlined the importance of establishing monitoring system and undertaking analysis on its basis and pointed out that, establishing a monitoring system for the protection of maternal and child health is a key segment of the State Program and also Action Plan of the Ministry of Health.
Associate professor of demography at the Southampton university, Dr Andrew 'Amos' Channon introduced seminar participants on monitoring and evaluating on health systems.
The expert made extensive presentation on child-health indicators in Azerbaijan by providing detailed information on the most commonly used assessment methods on general public health system.
Note that, the main goal of seminar conducted by professor currently working in department of Social Statistics & Demography at the University of Southampton and having experience working with governments around the world, as well as UNICEF and WHO in different countries is to expand health care monitoring and evaluation framework.
