Students of Baku State Communication and Transport College informed on negative impacts of harmful habits
Public Health and Reforms Center (PHRC) of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan regularly conducts activities to promote awareness on healthy lifestyles among adolescents and youth.
One such event organized by PHRC jointly with the State Committee for Family, Women, and Children Affairs was held in Baku State Communication and Transport College under Azerbaijan Technical University on October 12.
Opening the event deputy director on an educational sphere of the college Shahmurad Mammadov stressed the importance of such educational meetings and urged students to take responsibility for their own health.
Methodist Physician of PHRC Zumrud Kazimova told about negative and ongoing effects of tobacco products and drugs on human health and also informed audience on measures taken for protection of the health of population, especially adolescents in our country. Speaking about tobacco use statistics in Azerbaijan, the speaker noted that, smoking is a major cause of cardiovascular diseases (heart, stroke and blood vessel disease), oncological diseases and other serious illnesses. According to her, promotion of physical activity can help pupils avoid tobacco, drinks and narcotics.
Note that, this educational meeting was organized according to the “Plan of Actions” of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan which was adopted due to the President Ilham Aliyev’s speech at the conference devoted to the fourth year results of implementation of the “State Program on socio-economic development of regions of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2014-2018 years”.
At the end of the event, educational materials prepared by PHRC were distributed and questions of interest to the students were clarified.
