26 June is the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking
26 June 2018 - The International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was established by the United Nations General Assembly as an expression of its determination to strengthen action and cooperation to achieve the goal of an international society free of drug abuse.
Supported each year by individuals, communities and various organizations all over the world, this global observance aims to raise awareness of the major problem that illicit drugs represent to society.
The Public Health and Reforms Center of the Ministry of Health (PHRC) continuously carries out large-scale enlightenment measures for the purpose of execution of responsibilities rising from the Plan of Actions of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan compiled according to the “State Program on combating illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors and extending of drug addiction for 2013-2018”.
During the year, specialists of PHRC Shahla Mirzazade, Latafat Dadashova, Farid Israfilzade have made presentations on “Let’s fight against Drug Abuse together!” at Baku State Communication and Transport College, School-Lyceum Complex under Baku Slavic University, secondary schools No 1 and No 46 and other educational institutions.
Within the frame of the meetings participants, adolescents, youth have got acquainted with educational materials titled “Choose a healthy life without drugs!” and “Protect your children from drugs!” prepared and published by PHRC.
