Event and demonstration of "Eye Doctor" play devoted to the 100th anniversary of Academician Zarifa Aliyeva held

On May 31, 2023, Public Health and Reforms Center of the Ministry of Health organized a solemn event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of academician Zarifa Aliyeva at the Young Spectators Theater. Participants of the event - healthcare and medical workers, public representatives got familiar with a photo-exhibition dedicated to the life and activities of the Honored Scientist, Doctor of Medical Sciences and Academician Zarifa Aliyeva.

Director of PHRC Gahraman Hagverdiev made an introduction speech and noted that, academician Zarifa Aliyeva's rich scientific research and great achievements as a scientist constitute a special stage in the history of Azerbaijani medical science. “Mrs. Zarifa went directly to regions where the serious trachoma infectious disease was more widespread, read reports to ophthalmologists, explained treatment methods, gave educational recommendations and achieved successful results”. Vice-president of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Academician Irada Huseynova spoke about valuable researches conducted by outstanding scientist of Azerbaijan Zarifa Aliyeva and emphasized that, she has practically laid the foundation for a new direction in the field of science - professional ophthalmology.

It was noted that, Mrs. Zarifa had won great public love as simple person, friendly, well-educated ophthalmologist. It is no coincidence that the television play "Eye Doctor" about persistent activity of ophthalmologists who give light to eyes and life of people shown in the last century was welcomed by viewers with great interest. By the initiative of the Public Health and Reforms Center of the Ministry of Health, Islam Safarli's play of the same name was staged again with great respect to the memory of Zarifa khanim and returned to the stage after many years. Director of the play, staged on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the academician, ophthalmologist Zarifa Aliyeva and presented for the first time in a new composition is Gulnar Hajiyeva, the performers of the main roles are actors of the Young Spectators Theater - Honored artists: Elnur Bahramkhan, Shafaq Aliyeva, Ilham Asadov, Karam Hadizade, Sabina Mammadzade, Zulfiyya Alhuseynova, Elshan Shikhaliyev, Mehriban Huseynova, Ramil Mammadov, Zumrud Guliyeva, Adalat Abdulsamad.
