A virtual meeting on risk factors for non-communicable diseases was held

A virtual expert meeting on short-term interventions at the level of primary health care on the risks of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) was organized by the WHO Regional Office for Europe on 12-13 May 2020.

The purpose of the meeting is to look at the prevention, treatment and economic factors of NCDs, which are widespread in all countries and are the main cause of death, and to take effective measures to eliminate the causes of human diseases.

The online meeting was attended by Rauf Mammadov, Deputy Director of the Public Health and Reforms Center of the Ministry of Health, and Tofig Musayev, Head of the Public Health Department.

During the two-day meeting, international experts spoke about regular trainings of public health workers on non-communicable diseases, increasing their capacity, and the proper organization of screening of medical services. Encouraging people to engage in physical activity is one of the key measures to be taken. In this regard, the WHO Office in Europe is developing handbook for the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases among population. The handbook will focus on key risk factors for non-communicable diseases, health literacy, healthy lifestyle and policy, patient guidance, health monitoring and assessment strategies for NCD.

On the last day of the meeting, the views of the country's participants were heard, questions were answered, and topics were monitored and analyzed.
