The staff of the PHRC conducted training on NCDs and prevention of their risk factors in the city of Mingachevir and in the Yevlakh region

On 14-15 and 16-17 November 2016, the staff of the Public Health and Reforms Center of the Ministry of Health conducted trainings on noncommunicable diseases and prevention of their risk factors for physicians working at the primary health care level in the Central Hospital of Mingachevir and Yevlakh region, selected for piloting mandatory health insurance in 2017.

The purpose of the training was to improve the knowledge and practical skills of physicians working at the level of primary health care, to prevent risk factors for noncommunicable diseases among the population. At the first stage of the training, 40 physicians working at the level of primary healthcare participated. During the training, the role of primary health care physicians in the prevention of NCDs, the structure of the patient's visit (history, physical examination, condition of internal organs, treatment plan and preventive measures / tips for risk reduction), preventive consultations on NCD risk factors were discussed. Also, the training was focused on the issues of healthy weight, nutrition, behavioral changes, etc.

At the final stage of the project, the doctors who completed the training will conduct classes with the participation of the staff of the PHRC for doctors in their polyclinics and family doctors at medical stations. It is expected that this project will have a positive impact on the organization of the prevention of non-communicable disease risk factors among patients.

At the end of the training discussions and planning with local doctors of the next stage of the project were held. Participants were given materials on the training topics developed in the PHRC. Further, following the results of the training, it is planned to develop a methodical manual "Evidence-based methods of prevention aimed at combating non-communicable diseases", intended for physicians working at the level of primary health care.
