An event was held on the occasion of “June 17 - Medical Workers' Day” in the PHRC
On 17 June 2016, an event dedicated to the Medical Workers' Day was organized at the Public Health and Reforms Center (PHRC), Ministry of Health.
This professional holiday was declared by Presidential Decree of June 4, 2001 in dedication of establishing the first Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan on June 17, 1918. Now it is traditionally celebrated throughout the country every year.
Director of PHRC Jeyhun Mammadov congratulated the participants on the occasion of the Medical Workers' Day. Also the director spoke about the achievements of the country's healthcare system in recent years. The director noted that as a result of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's care and attention modern medical centers have been established not only in capital but also in regions; former medical facilities were repaired and have been provided with modern equipment.
Also Dr. Mammadov mentioned about achievements of PHRC in the field of protection of public health. Director said that in recent years the PHRC developed a number of policy documents including a strategy against the non-infectious disease, National Strategy on mental health, Regionalization concept of perinatal care that have a state significance. He also noted that, in the last few years, PHRC implemented educational projects related to the most pressing health problems among the population, conducted more than 30 research and surveys, developed more than 90 evidence-based clinical protocolsso and underlined these achievements as a good input into health reforms by PHRC.
Speaking on behalf of all the staff of PHRC Tamilla Aliyeva, the head of Outpatient Department and Sabina Babazade, the head of Projects Coordination Department expressed their gratitude to the government for the conditions created at PHRC and other health institutions. Also they wished success for their colleagues.
At the end of the event, a few staff members of PHRC were awarded with "Certificate of Honour".
In the end, Director of PHRC once again congratulated the staff of PHRC and wished them success in their glorious work.
